Travel

Travel.

I'm itching to travel again, more and more as I grow older I see that being in one place makes me feel stagnant. I want to backpack through Europe, or take a train across the country, or even take the plunge and move to a new city. I've always felt it was our obligation as human beings to travel and explore the world we live in. It opens your eyes, senses, creativity and understanding. People are so afraid of the unknown, but ignorance and fear go hand in hand. I admire the friends I have (like Claire and Nat hey boo's!) who have left the security of their hometowns to live in new places and experience life in new surroundings, it takes a lot of courage but is so rewarding.

Listen, I'm as broke as the next person but travel doesn't even have to mean booking a flight to the Galapagos. Just explore your surroundings, go to a part of the city you've never been to before, take a bus to another province or state, take a train cross country, just open yourself to what's around you. You have one life, YOLO, so if you have opportunities to TRAVEL, do so and become scholars of the world.

Instacreep x broke&living

We've all been victim of the instacreep, the double tap, the thirstfollow etc. etc. But in this case, it's all in the name of broke&living. Scrolling through instagram and seeing people in our products is what makes it all worth it (no seriously that's the only reason). That being said, creeping led us to stumble upon the lovely Luella Mink in our two tier "LIVING" chain.

Thank you for being one of the many that embodies what it means to actually live. We are forever inspired by living spirits and hope to inspire as well.

Resolutions

Third week into the new year, how are those resolutions holding up?

...that's what I thought.

People always OVER complicate things by OVER simplifying and OVER compensating, well I'm OVER it. How about we keep it simple, my resolution for this year is to be happier. Do small things everyday to make me feel happy, things like not complaining, trying not to be negative, and smiling more. Ever take a look around the bus and observe people on their daily commute, for the most part they all look miserable, but like...why? Of course you can't be 100% happy at all hours of the day but if you can sneak in a little happiness to brighten up your spirits, why not?

Today my little slice of happiness was not waking up cranky and complaining about my 9 o'clock class and near 2 hour commute (-_-) (lol babysteps), picking out my soundtrack for the day and enjoying the sun on my face, and yes, I even smiled.

I leave you with my soundtrack of the day:

It's the little things

Broke in a box

--> Look to the left of this screen...read...*waits* done? Excellent. Did that change your perception on the word "broke"? No? Read it again. Too often we're consumed by definitions...staying within this imaginary box. Let me be the first to tell you that box will kill you, literally, I'm pretty sure there aren't any air holes in there so breathing is pretty much outta the question. My point is I know what it's like to stay within confined lines to conform to what everyone sees as "normal". It's dark, boring and leaves no room for growth. You end up doing shit for others and losing yourself in the end. We've gone through all that, ended up lost and it took us a minute to get back to a point where we felt we were happy and comfortable as individuals and as a team. I guess you can say we "broke" free from the box. Stop living by Webster's rules and work towards living by your own rules.

New Testament

There will come a moment when you realize you've wasted an abundance of time doing shit that you despise and that you really have no idea what you're doing with your lifeThe people around you will begin to show their true colours and you'll do away with the ones who aren't about shit. Not to worry, some of your friends actually have their lives together and are making their way into their careers. Unfortunately you'll grow envious of them. At some point you'll probably wallow in self pity and ask God for a sign, any sign to let you know that you're moving in the right direction. Then you'll find comfort in a bottle of vodka and smoke yourself into oblivion. That's okay, just don't do Meth, you'll regret it.

Something has happened; your perspective has shifted, your purpose has awakened, the cosmos in your universe are alined, maybe you drank too much coffee? Whatever it is, at this moment you're finally ready to live. What were you doing before? Simply existing. You were doing what you thought you should be doing because it met the requirements. Fuck meeting requirements, don't just be comfortable. Comfort is for lazy people, live luxuriously.

Stop trying to find yourself, be the person that you are. If you're seeking something it's probably inspiration and in that case go after it with a 16 gauge shotgun with a couple of rounds of ammunition. You have the potential to be whatever or whoever you want. Don't let someone else tell you what your potential is in an attempt to mold you. Molding was only cool when Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze got all hot and heavy while trying to make pottery in Ghost.

People will tell you how you should do things and drown you with advice. Make sure these people are doing things themselves. Would you trust a dentist with bad teeth anywhere near your mouth, no right? okay then. Lastly and most importantly don't limit yourself to the norm. Think outside the box. As a matter of fact take that box, break it down, put it in the recycling bin and then meditate. Keep an open mind, a warm heart and be honest with yourself.
..If that doesn't work maybe try shrooms?
